DANUBE BEND

PRIVATE TRANSFER BUDAPEST - DANUBE BEND - VIENNA

- The most favourite tour option of our customers, coming from outside of Europe is the taxi or minivan, minibus transfer between Budapest and Vienna through the Danube Bend. We offer a one-day long transfer and scenic tour - if you are not in a hurry to Budapest or Vienna. The best way to name this trip might be "A journey into the history of Hungary", considering, the earliest settlements were founded along the main trading routes over 1000 years ago. The Daube River with its 2850 km (1771 miles) length - running through 10 countries - is the longest international waterway of Europe. The surroundings are populated since ancient times - it is proven by several historical findings. The area is not only attractive and fascinating in every season, but also you can find constructions, buildings and remains of different historical eras: temples, settlements and castles. During our trip - depending on which direction are you travelling between Budapest and Vienna - we are visiting the three most spectacular settlements: - 1. Esztergom - 2. Visegrád - 3. Szentendre

COME WITH US TO DISCOVER THE HISTORY OF HUNGARY!

ESZTERGOM

- 1. Esztergom today is a small country town, located 46 km from Budapest, but 1100 years ago it was the first capital city, the seat of Hungarian kings. Esztergom today is not only the center of the Hungarian Roman Catholic Church, but also the Hungarian Constitution Court is located here. The Medieval Treasury can be found in the biggest church of Hungary, the Esztergom Basilica. The Christian Museum has the greatest eclectic collection of the country. Esztergom is located on the right bank of the River Danube - which forms the state border between Slovakia and Hungary.

VISEGRÁD

- Visegrád is mentioned first in 1009 as seat of the archdeacon. After the devastation of the Tatar invasion, it has been rebuilt, then our king, Charles I. (Károly Róbert in Hungarian) moved his capital from Temesvár to Visegrád - which at that time was in the centre of his kingdom - in 1325. Charles I. together with the Czech and Polish kings held a two-month long congress in 1335, during which, they signed an alliance against the Habsburgs. Then another congress followed in 1338. This is how old the partnership between Central European countries is, which are known as the "V4 Coalition" today. Sigismund of Luxembourg (Zsigmond király, king of Hungary from 1387 to 1437) between 1405 and 1408 moved his royal court to Buda, but later King Matthias has built a mediterranean style renaissance palace on the riverbank of the Danube - which has been a fascinating wonder of its age in Europe - and used it as his summer residence. After the battle of Mohács in 1526, the country fell into three parts and Visegrád lost its significance.
- Visegrád Upper Castle: After the Tatar invasion Bela IV. built a system of fortresses of which the Upper Castle - together with the Lower Castle of Visegrád - was the most important element. It served multiple purposes as controlling trading routes, protecting the Danube Bend and being the royal residence - again. In the 14th century it has been rebuilt and renovated, enforced with a tower in each corner. In the end of the 15th century, King Matthias had the middle part of the castle renovated too. The Upper Castle also was the place, where the Holy Crown of Hungary has been guarded. Then in 1544 Visegrád was occupied by the Turkish conquerors and - with an exception of a short period of time between 1595 and 1605 - stayed under their occupation. During this period, the condition of the castle has been declining. After these times the castle has never been used again. The Citadel is under reconstruction nowadays constantly, but most parts of it can be visited. It is really worth to take the walk to the top of the mountain not only because of the exhibitions but also for the spectacular sight of the valley and the Danube Bend!

SZENTENDRE

- Szentendre: The small town in the surrounding of Budapest has been a populated settlement for over 1000 years. The Romans referred to it as Ulcisia Castra (Farkasverem in Hungarian, literally translates into "wolf's pitfall). Since the 16th century Szentendre became the biggest community of Serbian settlers in Hungary. This is why the town has eight Serbian orthodox churches and only one Catholic and Protestant church. It is known by tourists mostly for its museums art galleries and outdoor ethnographical collection. Wandering around the narrow streets, there are plenty of souvenir shops, cafes, restaurant and pubs, you can discover. In the 18th century, after the Turkish rule, Szentendre has reborn in mediterranean atmosphere and was repopulated - by mostly Serbs, Greeks, Croatians and Germans beside the Hungarians. We can describe the town today mostly as a settlement of South European atmosphere, with plenty of baroque style building.

Nancy Morton - USA

I got a European trip as a graduation gift from my mom. Due to some errors, we missed the train from Vienna to Budapest. Luckily, we found this site and it was really life-saving! After hours of worrying, we met a kind and helpful driver and it was a relief! It was a good idea, to use a professional service instead of getting lost in a foreign-language country even more. It was an enjoyable ride and we also got useful tips for sights, museums and restaurants. Thank you very much Emil!

Tommy Lim

"We had booked for us 3 Emil as a private driver from Vienna to Budapest in Sept. 2017 via his homepage viennabudapest.hu. It was easy to find all the informations on the site. His offer was promt and detailed, he answered for all our questions previously in his transfer confirmation. The pick up was in the exact time, the car is a luxury Mercedes E class estate car, enough luggage-rack for our 4 suitcases and hand bags. He offered us not a simple direct transport to Budapest but a scenic tour via Bratislava, which is the capital city of Slovakia. It was amazing!!! Highly recommended! Thank you Emil!"

Nálunk Amerikában teljesen más kép él a taxisokról.
